WHAT ARE SUPERFOODS?

Superfoods are incredibly nutrient-rich and offer a wide variety of essential micronutrients in high quantities. They are packed with antioxidants, polyphenols and a variety of vitamins and minerals.

All superfoods have different nutritional profiles, but combined with a healthy diet they help our bodies maintain a healthy balance.

THE JOURNEY

Green Origins searched the world to bring you

nature’s finest foods; traveling across continents in

ACAI BERRY POWDER

Acai berry is a small purple fruit native to the Amazon rainforest. This acai is typically wild-harvested by cooperatives in South America and Green Origins has chosen the Euterpe Precatoria variety due to its higher antioxidant count and lower fat level than standard acai (Euterpe Oleracea). In fact, this type of acai berry has one of the highest ORAC values (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) of any food.

BOABOB POWDER

Baobab is a nutritious fruit with a citrusy flavour that grows on the African 'Tree of Life'. Green Origins sources their baobab from a producer with a vision for conservation. They employ over 1000 women from local communities in Southern Africa who make an income from harvesting the baobab fruit; providing sustainable livelihoods for hundreds of households. The baobab fruit is minimally processed; the seeds are removed and the fruit is simply sieved to create a natural powder.

WHEATGRASS

Wheatgrass powder is produced from the young leafy shoots of the wheat plant. This wheatgrass is grown in rich and fertile soil and harvested when it reaches its nutritional peak. 10kg of fresh leaves produces 1kg of this wheatgrass powder and unlike wheatgrass juice powder Green Origins preserves the fibre from the leaves, providing a high fibre powder.

COCONUT SUGAR

Coconut sugar can be used as a replacement for refined white sugar. It has a similar flavour to brown sugar, with hints of caramel. This coconut sugar is 100% pure and is made from the nectar of the blossom that grows on the coconut palm tree. Farmer cooperatives are involved in growing and harvesting the coconut nectar. It is an important product for local communities, providing much-needed income.
